Vietnam and Indonesia strengthen cooperation in the digital field

Vietnam and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in national digital transformation, talent development, artificial intelligence (AI), green technology, smart cities and digital economic strategy.

According to a VNA correspondent in Jakarta, the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) has established a strategic partnership with Vietnam's FPT Group in various digital fields.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in national digital transformation, talent development, artificial intelligence (AI), green technology, smart cities and digital economic strategy.

In a statement on June 13, Indonesian Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy said the MoU marks the beginning of a long-term partnership and is a strategic step to accelerate Indonesia's digital transformation and the Indonesia Golden Vision 2045.

This also represents a strategic step in the close partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam.

Minister Pambudy affirmed that to realize the Indonesia Golden Vision 2045, the country must leverage technology, strengthen its industrial base and invest in young digital talent.

The MoU is for a period of five years and covers strategic areas such as national and sectoral digital transformation planning, e -government , smart planning and electronic surveillance systems.

The main focus of the partnership is human resource development through upskilling and reskilling programs in the fields of AI, cybersecurity, software engineering and data science.

The two countries will also cooperate on pilot projects on smart agriculture, green technology and sustainable cities, and promote academic cooperation.

Mr. Pambudy said Bappenas expects this cooperation to strengthen the foundation for both Indonesia and Vietnam to become major digital powers in Southeast Asia.

Not only is national technological capacity enhanced, but a comprehensive, sustainable and innovative future for both countries is also shaped.

Meanwhile, FPT Corporation CEO Nguyen Van Khoa expressed optimism that the cooperation with Bappenas will help create a more digitally connected and advanced Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific region./.
