Drinking soft drinks of unknown origin, 30 students suspected of poisoning

According to the Cao Bang Department of Health , doctors at the Coc Pang Commune Health Station and Bao Lac District Health Center are treating and monitoring the health of students showing symptoms of poisoning after drinking soft drinks bought in front of the school gate.

According to a report from Bao Lac District Medical Center, at around 7:00 p.m. on September 21, 8 students from Coc Pang Boarding Ethnic Primary and Secondary School (Coc Pang Commune) showed symptoms of headache, stomachache, nausea, and diarrhea and were taken to Coc Pang Commune Medical Station for examination and treatment.

Before that, the students went to the school gate to buy 245 ml bottled soft drinks of unknown origin (the bottle label did not have Vietnamese writing) to drink. About 20 minutes after drinking, the students showed symptoms of headache, stomachache, nausea and diarrhea, and were taken by teachers to Coc Pang Commune Health Station for examination and treatment. 7 students' health has stabilized, 1 student was transferred to Bao Lac District Health Center for further treatment.

On the morning of September 22, 22 students continued to go to the school gate to buy the above soft drink to drink. After drinking, these students all had symptoms of headache, stomachache, nausea and diarrhea and were taken to Coc Pang Commune Health Station for examination and treatment; of which 6 students had severe symptoms and had to be taken to Bao Lac District Health Center for treatment.

After the incident, the People's Committee of Bao Lac District directed the district health center to coordinate with the commune health station to promptly examine and treat students with severe symptoms; take food samples for testing; conduct inspections and recalls of related products; propagate and mobilize people, parents and students not to use products of unknown origin.

Also according to the Cao Bang Department of Health, before the incident with the 30 students mentioned above, on September 7, 25 students of Viet Chu Primary School (Thong Nhat Commune, Ha Lang District, Cao Bang) suffered food poisoning after eating candy and drinking soft drinks of unknown origin, bought at the school gate.
