In recent days, two roads Vo Chi Cong and Pham Van Dong ( Hanoi ) have been constructing and installing a system of hard fences and signs to separate cars from motorbikes.
Specifically, on Pham Van Dong route, the traffic separation area extends from the intersection with Hoang Quoc Viet street to the roundabout into Ciputra urban area. The plan also arranges two lanes next to the median strip as lanes exclusively for cars, the remaining lanes for mixed traffic. Similarly, on Vo Chi Cong route, the traffic separation area starts from after the exit to the elevated road to before the ramp from Vo Chi Cong to the Red River dike road (Au Co street). According to the plan, the three outer lanes next to the median strip will be arranged as lanes exclusively for cars. The remaining lanes will serve mixed traffic.
According to the original plan, the official lane division was expected to be implemented from July 1. However, according to the actual records of CAND Newspaper reporters on the morning of July 1, some construction items of fences, signs, gantry frames... have not been completed yet.
Vo Chi Cong Street on the morning of July 1st was congested for a long time. In fact, there are times when a large number of cars almost take up the entire Vo Chi Cong street, making it difficult for motorcyclists to move. Image at mixed lane on Vo Chi Cong street, motorbikes can only move in a small space close to the sidewalk. Sharing with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Son (residing in Phu Thuong, Hanoi) said that he travels through Vo Chi Cong street every day to go to work. As before, the density on the road was high but cars mainly moved in the 3 outer lanes and the 2 inner lanes were for motorbikes, but now there is only a small space left next to the sidewalk because cars constantly occupy the entire lane, especially during rush hour. In the photo, the motorbike rider has to go up on the sidewalk because the lane below has no more room to move. Motorcyclists have difficulty moving. Many motorcyclists, regardless of the danger, move into the lane reserved for cars. Traffic on the road is chaotic due to congestion. Some locations on Vo Chi Cong Street are still blocked by long lines of cars stopping and parking to enter breakfast shops, narrowing the path even more. The bus was stuck on the road due to traffic jam.
