The Vietnam U.20 team has had its second consecutive win in the 2025 U.20 Asian qualifiers. However, head coach Hua Hien Vinh and captain Nguyen Cong Phuong said the team still has issues that need improvement.
On the evening of September 25, the U.20 Vietnam team won 3-0 against U.20 Guam, in the match of the third round of Group A - the qualifying round of the 2025 U.20 Asian Cup. After more than 45 minutes of the first half, U.20 Vietnam led the opponent 2-0, with goals from Nguyen Le Phat and Nguyen Cong Phuong. In the second half, U.20 Guam had to play with one less player from the 67th minute, because the team's goalkeeper received a direct red card. But it was not until the 90+1 minute that coach Hua Hien Vinh's team was able to realize the advantage of playing with one more player, when Hoang Khanh headed the ball to seal the 3-0 victory.

Sharing after the match, head coach Hua Hien Vinh said: "In terms of the score and fighting spirit in this match, I feel satisfied with the performance of the players. However, at some points, you guys handled things a bit too fussy. If you were more careful, U.20 Vietnam could have taken advantage of the opportunity to score more goals, especially since the other team was playing with one less player. That is also something we need to improve."

Cong Phuong affirmed that he does not feel pressured when wearing the captain's armband of U.20 Vietnam.
