Nghe An school in disarray after storm Kajiki

GD&TĐ - Many schools in Nghe An were severely damaged after storm Kajiki. Repair work is being urgently carried out to make it ready for the new school year 2025-2026.

Strong winds from the afternoon of August 25 blew off the metal roofs of two three-story classrooms at Huynh Thuc Khang High School. The school has postponed the start of school.

Many old trees in Huynh Thuc Khang High School were also uprooted. The school has announced that students are not allowed to come to school during the recovery period from Typhoon Kajiki to ensure safety.

Nguyen Hue Kindergarten (Hung Nguyen Commune) is one of the schools most severely damaged by Typhoon Kajiki in Nghe An Province. From the street, trees fell down, and rows of classrooms had their corrugated iron roofs blown off, leaving only bricks.

From early morning on August 26, after the storm had passed, the wind was light and there was only light rain, teachers and staff of Nguyen Hue Kindergarten were present to inspect the situation and start cleaning up and overcoming the consequences.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh - Principal of Nguyen Hue Kindergarten said that teachers in the school focused on cleaning the classrooms and the campus. As for tasks such as moving the corrugated iron roof that was blown down into the school yard, cleaning up fallen trees, repairing facilities... the school has reported to the local authorities for resolution.

Le Hong Phong Secondary School (Hung Nguyen, Nghe An) also suffered heavy damage to both campuses 1 and 2, with the corrugated iron roof blown off and tiles ripped off in many classrooms.

Schools are trying to overcome the consequences in time for the new school year 2025-2026.

According to initial reports, storm Kajiki in Nghe An caused heavy damage to 14 schools in the following communes and wards: Thanh Vinh, Hung Nguyen, Than Linh, Vinh Loc, Van An, Nam Dan, Binh Minh, Quynh Chau, Quang Dong, Giai Lac, Vinh Tuong, Trung Loc...
