The 2025 University Admission Regulations of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine were signed by Associate Professor, Doctor, Pharmacist Nguyen Dang Thoai, Vice Principal in charge of operations, and took effect from June 12. This Regulation replaces Decision No. 1090 on promulgating the Regulations on regular university admissions applicable to courses enrolling from 2025 onwards.

Admission requirements

In this admission regulation, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine states that the candidates include: People who have been recognized as graduating from high school in Vietnam or have a foreign diploma recognized as equivalent; People who have a secondary vocational diploma in the same group of majors as the candidate and have completed the required amount of high school cultural knowledge according to the provisions of law.

Candidates must meet the prescribed entry threshold conditions, be healthy enough to study according to current regulations; Have sufficient personal information and application documents according to regulations.

For a training program or a training major that simultaneously applies multiple admission methods, the school may specify the subjects and admission conditions for each admission method but must comply with the principles prescribed in the regulations.

For disabled candidates with reduced learning ability, training institutions shall take necessary measures and create the best conditions for candidates to register and study in majors suitable to their health conditions.

Admission method

Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine decides on one or several admission methods (exam, selection or a combination of exam and selection) applied to the entire training institution or applied separately to some training programs, majors, and groups of majors. A training program, major, or group of majors can use several admission methods at the same time.

This regulation also clearly states that each admission method must clearly define the criteria for assessment, selection, scoring methods and determining admission conditions. In particular, the main criteria used for assessment and selection must be based on the requirements for basic knowledge and core competencies that candidates need to have to study the training program, major and group of majors.

The total of bonus points, bonus points, and incentive points for candidates with special achievements and candidates with foreign language certificates must not exceed 10% of the maximum score on the scoring scale (maximum 3 points on a 30-point scale). Each candidate has the opportunity to achieve the maximum score on the scoring scale, but no candidate has a score exceeding this maximum score.

Regarding the admission method based on academic results and exam results for each subject (summary scores of high school subjects, high school graduation exam scores and other assessment results), Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine also has specific regulations. Accordingly, the subject group used for admission includes at least 3 subjects suitable for the characteristics and requirements of the training program, including math or literature with a weighted score of no less than 25%; from 2026, the common subjects of the groups must contribute at least 50% of the weighted score.

For foreign language certificates used to exempt high school graduation exams according to the current High School Graduation Exam Regulations, training institutions can convert them into foreign language subject scores to include in the admission subject group with the weighting of the scores not exceeding 50%.

For a training program, major, or group of majors with multiple admission methods or admission combinations, the school must determine the equivalent conversion rules for the entrance threshold and admission scores of the admission methods, admission methods, and admission combinations according to the unified instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training; ensuring the selection of candidates who best meet the entrance requirements of the training program, major, or group of majors.

Admission principles

According to the admission regulations of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the admission score is determined so that the number of students admitted to each major and training program is consistent with the announced quota, but not lower than the entrance threshold.

For a training program, major, or group of majors, all candidates are considered equally based on the admission score and equivalent converted admission score according to each admission method and admission combination, regardless of the priority order of registration wishes.

In case many candidates have the same admission score at the end of the list, the school can use the secondary criterion of preference order (to select candidates with higher preference order). The school announces the admission score and conditions, secondary criteria (if any) for majors and training programs according to the admission methods.

Previously, at the end of May, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine completed the 2025 regular university admissions council.
