Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Trieu Tai Vinh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee; Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Duong Ngoc Hai, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that our Party and State pay special attention to and care for building the great national unity bloc and religious unity, and identify this as a fundamental, long-term strategic issue, as well as an urgent issue at present.
The Party and State have issued many policies and laws on ethnic and religious issues to improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic people and ensure freedom of belief and religion.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of ethnic and religious work in Ho Chi Minh City in recent years, especially the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
Ho Chi Minh City has concretized policies to meet the legitimate needs of ethnic minorities and religious people; and to strengthen the great national unity and religious unity.
Ho Chi Minh City has promoted the resources of religions, the potential and strengths of ethnic minorities, contributing to promoting socio -economic development, maintaining national defense and security, enhancing integration, development and affirming its role as the economic locomotive of the whole country.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that in the coming time, the Party Committee, government, Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of Ho Chi Minh City continue to pay attention to promoting propaganda, mobilization, widespread dissemination and successful implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on ethnicity and religion.
At the same time, continue to pay attention to the leadership in perfecting the organizational structure and staff of ethnic and religious affairs when implementing a two-level local government; care for the lives of ethnic minorities and religious people, and be determined to soon help poor and near-poor households in the city escape poverty.
Ho Chi Minh City continues to promote the strength of the great national unity bloc, propagate, mobilize, fight, refute, and defeat plots and tricks to divide the great national unity bloc and religious unity.
