China: Hundreds of people line up to wait for… “blessed” cats

Videos of cats high-fiving have gone viral on Chinese social media, attracting curious tourists. Many people liken the act to spreading blessings and good luck.

Thanks to that, Xi Yuan Temple in Suzhou (China) is now always crowded, with long lines of people patiently waiting for their turn to high-five the cat.

An Instagram account named China Focus shared a video of the cat with the caption: "In Suzhou, there is a lovely cat wearing a gold necklace, high-fiving and posing for photos with tourists at Xiyuan Temple. It looks like the cat is spreading blessings and good luck to everyone."

The Suzhou travel Instagram page also dedicated a post to this special cat with the description: "Only positive energy! The cat at Xiyuan Temple (Suzhou) is blessing visitors with high fives and netizens can't resist this cuteness."

Under the video, a series of comments expressed their delight. One person wrote: "Cats are loved everywhere." Another humorously said: "Hopefully he gets donations so he can have fresh fish every night."

Some observant people noticed that the cat looked quite tired with an emotionless face when having to... work for food.

Xiyuan Temple, also known as the West Garden Temple, is one of the famous temples in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the temple has undergone many renovations and expansions over the centuries.

This place is not only an important Buddhist center but also preserves many valuable scriptures, antiques and works of art.

With its distinctive traditional architecture, including shrines, pavilions and serene gardens, Tay Vien Pagoda has long been an unmissable destination for both tourists and locals.
