The unit not only contributes to maintaining domestic political security, but also demonstrates Vietnam's image, responsibility and commitment to the international community in ensuring the safety of diplomatic missions, a mandatory requirement under international law.

The regiment is tasked with armed guarding, patrolling, controlling and protecting the safety of targets and enhancing the safety of thousands of receptions, press conferences and conferences held at embassies and ambassadors' private residences.
The guard officer is responsible for mastering the position, protection plan, checking weapons and support tools, organizing task assignments, leading guard changes and ensuring target safety.

The officers and soldiers of the Regiment are also the core force coordinating with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and local police to resolve unexpected incidents.

After roll call and receiving their assignments, the working groups were fully equipped and boarded specialized vehicles to move to different guard posts in Hanoi.

Each shift is 2 hours, regardless of the weather, the soldiers protecting diplomatic targets must always be on duty 24/7 to ensure absolute safety for the targets.
