Referee: “I appreciate VAR technology in the Dan Tri pickleball tournament”

Referee Dinh Cong Minh was present at the drawing ceremony for the “Dan Tri 20 Years - Brilliant New Day” pickleball tournament on the afternoon of July 2. Sharing about the preparation work of the referee team, Mr. Dinh Cong Minh said: “Since receiving the assignment to referee the “Dan Tri 20 Years - Brilliant New Day” pickleball tournament, we have focused on preparing our professional work, health as well as the most scientific work plan.

The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day" co-organized by Dan Tri newspaper and Vietnam Pickleball Sports Forum Joint Stock Company (PICKFAIR) will take place at Dai Kim Pickleball Complex (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) on July 5 and 6.

On July 5 (starting at 7:30, after the opening ceremony at 7:00), the competitions will be Dan Tri Lead, women's doubles level 4.5, women's doubles Open, men's doubles Open. On July 6 (starting at 7:00), the competitions will be Dan Tri & Friends, men's doubles level 5.5, women's doubles level 5.0 and men's doubles level 6.5. The Organizing Committee has also announced the RESULTS OF THE DRAWING OF THE MATCHES.

In the framework of the upcoming "Dan Tri 20 Years - Bright New Day" pickleball tournament, gathering more than 500 athletes, the Organizing Committee said that all fees collected from athletes (at 500,000 VND/person) will not be used to cover organization costs but will be used to support the construction of 5 Charity houses, helping 5 households with especially difficult circumstances in Hoa An district, Cao Bang province (Article: https://dantri.com.vn/tam-long-nhan-ai/5-ho-dan-dac-biet-kho-khan-o-cao-bang-mong-uoc-co-mai-nha-kien-co-20250612111933765.htm)

Before the tournament, we had a training session to help referees handle real situations on the field in a unified manner. We coordinated with the organizing committee to develop standards, handle situations on the field, and handle athletes fairly, in accordance with the current rules of Vietnamese pickleball.

Mr. Dinh Cong Minh revealed further: “There are 15 referees in total, working at 9 stadiums. For stadiums with important content, we will arrange 5 referees on 3 stadiums. For the remaining stadiums, we will arrange 4 referees on 3 stadiums.”

Notably, in the pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day", modern VAR technology will be applied. On June 27, Dan Tri newspaper and Vietnam Pickleball Sports Forum Joint Stock Company (PICKFAIR) in collaboration with MK Vision organized a simulation of a real match using 12-eye VAR technology at Dai Kim pickleball court (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) - the venue for the pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day" on July 5 and 6.

Referee Dinh Cong Minh said about this technology: “We have tried to apply VAR technology in a few tournaments. However, for the pickleball tournament “Dan Tri 20 years - New brilliant days”, we have the most thorough preparation ever. We pay attention to every smallest detail.

I highly appreciate the support for referees in the upcoming tournament. First, the uniforms. Second, the training. Third, the technology. Referees will be supported by VAR checks to handle situations most accurately.

Sometimes pickleball situations happen so quickly that the referee cannot keep up with the ball situation. VAR technology will help the referee a lot. The players can also monitor the situations.

In addition, we also apply CAM technology to monitor the activities of referees as well as athletes. This will avoid many risks related to referees. I appreciate the preparation and support for referees at the Dan Tri pickleball tournament."

Mr. Le Ngoc Anh, Director of PICKFAIR, said that the 12-eye VAR technology uses many high-quality cameras to record every moment on the field, helping referees review controversial situations in detail and accurately.
