According to Vietnam News Agency, this is a special occasion to honor the close friendship between journalists of the two countries, towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (1925-2025) and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (1960-2025).
Speaking at the meeting, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes said that Cuba has devoted its entire press system to supporting the liberation of the Vietnamese people. Among them, Radio Havana Cuba and Prensa Latina News Agency have become representative voices of Vietnam's heroic resistance spirit, while helping press agencies such as the Vietnam News Agency and the Voice of Vietnam significantly expand their coverage.

Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the deep relationship between the two revolutionary presses of Vietnam and Cuba has been nurtured over many generations. He recalled the historical image in 1973 when leader Fidel Castro raised the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam at Hill 241 (Quang Tri), as a strong symbol of solidarity and an image imbued with Vietnamese journalism.
“Since 1961, thousands of Vietnamese students and cadres have studied and grown up in Cuba and then returned to contribute to the country and the Vietnamese revolution. Their return brought with them new knowledge and professional experience, thereby making important contributions to the remarkable development of the country's journalism,” said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.
According to Nhan Dan Newspaper, at the program, delegates watched documentary films about the traditional friendship between the two countries in general and the two Journalists Associations in particular, and listened to journalists share about the exchange, training and cooperation between Vietnamese and Cuban press and media agencies.
