Navy Region 5: Propagating and raising awareness about the sea and islands for Phu Quoc people

On the afternoon of June 5, the Naval Region 5 Command coordinated with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee to organize a conference to promote sea and island propaganda to people in Duong Dong ward, Phu Quoc city (Kien Giang).

At the conference, the reporter of the Naval Region 5 Command informed and propagated about the sea and islands to hundreds of cadres, party members, union members, association members, dignitaries, religious officials and hamlet and neighborhood cadres in Duong Dong ward.

The propaganda content focuses on the position, role and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands in the cause of national construction and protection; the current situation in our country's seas; the viewpoints, policies and solutions of the Party and State in the struggle and resolution of disputes at sea; the legal basis and historical evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; and the typical feats and achievements of the Vietnam People's Navy in performing assigned political tasks.

The reporter of the Naval Region 5 Command also disseminated the basic contents of Directive No. 45/CT-TTg dated December 13, 2017 of the Prime Minister on a number of urgent tasks and solutions to overcome the warning of the European Commission on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; major policies and orientations of the Party and State in developing the marine economy and ensuring national defense and security.

Through the propaganda conference, cadres, Party members and people of all walks of life in the area have been updated and supplemented with a lot of useful knowledge, thereby raising awareness and responsibility in participating in preserving the homeland's sea and islands. In addition, the dissemination of legal regulations on fisheries exploitation also helps people to be more aware of complying with the law, actively mobilizing relatives and fishermen where they live not to violate foreign waters, contributing to the whole country to remove the "yellow card" of the European Commission.

On this occasion, the Naval Region 5 Command presented 200 national flags to the delegates. This is not only a meaningful gift, but also a sacred symbol, contributing to increasing the confidence, will and responsibility of cadres, party members and local people in the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
