At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra paid an official visit to Vietnam from May 15 to 16.
The visit takes place in the context of the two countries preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1976-2026), and the strategic partnership is actively developing.
The motorcade of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra moved into the Presidential Palace grounds amid the joy and welcome of students.
The national anthems of the two countries were played, and the two Prime Ministers and delegations and government officials of the two countries performed the flag-saluting ceremony.
This is the first official visit to Vietnam by a Thai Prime Minister in 11 years, and also the first time Ms. Shinawatra has officially visited Vietnam as Prime Minister of Thailand. This is also the first joint cabinet meeting of the two countries' Prime Ministers in 10 years.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.
The Enhanced Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand is developing positively. Thailand attaches importance to consolidating and developing the good friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.
At the Government headquarters, the two leaders visited a photo exhibition marking the anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
After the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers took a group photo in the main hall of the Government Office. The two leaders shook hands before the talks.

Vietnam has 18 newly licensed investment projects in Thailand and 3 capital adjustment projects, with a total registered capital of 34.2 million USD, ranking 33rd out of 80 countries and territories with Vietnamese investment capital.
In terms of trade, Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN. In 2024, total two-way trade turnover will reach more than 20.2 billion USD, up 6.6% compared to 2023.
Regarding investment, Thailand currently has 761 valid projects with a total registered capital of more than 14.8 billion USD, ranking 9th out of 149 countries investing in Vietnam and 2nd among ASEAN countries investing in Vietnam (after Singapore).
The leaders of the two governments agreed to promote the implementation of the "Three Connections" strategy in three areas: connecting supply chains; connecting businesses and localities of the two countries; and connecting sustainable growth strategies.
