Ho Chi Minh City fines pharmacies for selling prescription drugs without prescriptions

The Inspectorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just issued 5 decisions to sanction administrative violations in the fields of pharmaceuticals - cosmetics - medical equipment - bidding with a total amount of more than 137 million VND. related to pharmacy operations.

Specifically, Thuy Trang pharmacy (267 Kha Van Can, Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc City) was fined 23 million VND. This pharmacy was discovered to be selling prescription drugs without a prescription; not keeping a book or not using a computer to manage import, export, storage, tracking batch numbers, expiry dates, origin of drugs and other relevant information as prescribed by law.

Similarly, the Van Hanh pharmacy business (20 Nam Cao, Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City) was fined 27.8 million VND. The reason for this pharmacy was trading in goods of unknown origin; the person in charge of the facility's expertise was absent during operating hours; the regime of not periodically reporting on drugs subject to special control was not followed; and prescription drugs were sold without a prescription.

Thien Minh Phuc 8 Pharmacy (268 Long Phuoc, Long Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City) was fined VND8.8 million for trading in drugs of unknown origin; the person in charge of the facility's professional duties was absent during operating hours; and mixing non-medicinal products with drugs in cases where they also trade in cosmetics, functional foods, and medical equipment as prescribed by law.

Ngoc Phat business household (16A Phu Chau, Tam Phu Ward, Thu Duc City) was fined 800,000 VND for trading in goods of unknown origin.

Chi Chi Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (240/13/18D Nguyen Van Luong, Ward 11, District 6) was fined 70 million VND. This company produced cosmetics with formulas that were not in accordance with the product declaration file (containing the preservative Propyl paraben, which was not included in the product formula that had been granted a cosmetic product declaration receipt number). In addition to being forced to destroy the product, the company was forced to return the relevant cosmetic product declaration receipt number.
