RT reported that on June 7, the White House said that President Trump had ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, California, after violent protests against immigration raids took place there.

“If California Governor Gavin Newscum and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass cannot do their job, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem… the way it should be solved!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president signed a memorandum authorizing the deployment of the National Guard, citing the attack on ICE officers and “ongoing lawlessness.” She reiterated the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on violence against law enforcement.

The latest riot took place in the city of Paramount, where protesters confronted US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

Tom Homan, who is currently overseeing operations in the area, told Fox News: "We're bringing in the National Guard tonight. We're going to continue to do our job. We're going to push these people back."

“This is a law enforcement issue. And again, we will not apologize for doing so,” Homan stressed.

The protest followed three immigration raids across Los Angeles on June 6, which resulted in 44 administrative arrests and the arrest of SEIU California President David Huerta on charges of obstruction.

US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the unrest a "riot" and warned that anyone who "touches law enforcement officers" would be prosecuted.
