On August 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, chaired a conference to summarize the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". The conference was held online to connecting points in provinces and cities nationwide.

The emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide" was launched by the Prime Minister on April 13, 2024. With the spirit of "whoever has something to help, those who have merit help those who have merit, those who have money help those who have money, the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, leaving no one behind"; the movement reached the finish line 4 months ahead of schedule, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and all classes of people, promoting the strength of the great national solidarity bloc, being a bright spot in sustainable poverty reduction, positively impacting the lives of ethnic minority households, meritorious policy households, poor and near-poor households, stabilizing their lives.

To date, 34/34 localities have basically completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. The whole country has supported the construction and repair of 334,234 houses (255,310 newly built houses and 78,924 repaired houses), mobilizing more than 24,700 billion VND and more than 2.7 million working days with 454,318 people supporting the construction and repair of houses nationwide. On August 19, the temporary house elimination program was announced as one of 250 major projects to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2.

To implement the movement, Son La province has established a Provincial Steering Committee, proactively arranged local budget capital, maximized support capital from the Central Government; integrated the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with other national target programs; mobilized the participation and support of the police force, the army, people, and businesses to speed up the construction progress of the projects. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for 3,058 households, reaching 100% of the plan; of which, 2,653 new houses were built and 405 houses were repaired, with the implemented budget of more than 171 billion VND; the progress was 169 days ahead of the deadline set by the Government (October 31, 2025).

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the outstanding efforts of all levels, sectors, agencies, localities, armed forces, corporations, businesses, philanthropists and people in completing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in recent times.

The Prime Minister requested the Central Steering Committees, ministries, sectors, branches, and local authorities to do a good job of thoroughly disseminating and widely disseminating the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. Strengthen inspection and supervision work to promptly grasp recommendations and proposals, detect and remove obstacles and difficulties.
