According to the assessment, the favorable weather conditions interweaved between the Northeast and Southwest monsoons, so about 92% of fishing vessels with professions such as: purse seine, scoop, gillnet, curtain fishing and some coastal exploitation of the province participated in exploitation. In particular, in May, many vessels shifted to exploiting both inshore and offshore areas, with many schools of floating fish such as: mackerel, grouper, tuna, anchovy appearing. Mr. Pham Xuan Thi in Khanh Hai town (Ninh Hai), shared: During the exploitation process, fishermen were promptly informed by the authorities about the fishing grounds, thanks to which they did not spend much time in searching for fish flows and thanks to the support of modern fishing equipment, the yield was high, most fishermen made a profit after each trip.
It is estimated that by the end of May, the output of aquatic products reached over 44,579 tons, an increase of 2.7% over the same period; the selling price was relatively stable, bringing stable income to fishermen and basically meeting the demand for raw materials for the processing industry. At the same time, in order to create conditions for people to go offshore, the Fishing Port Management Board also arranged forces to support boats entering and leaving the port conveniently; the buying and selling and purchasing of seafood was ensured to be stable. The inspection and control process at sea was strictly managed through equipment to monitor fishing vessel journeys; the appraisal and approval of applications for new construction, vessel conversion, licensing, and submission of fishing logbooks were strictly implemented according to regulations.
Aquaculture continues to develop and grow well, the production structure has shifted in depth, focusing on developing high-value species. Many facilities, businesses and households focus on applying modern technology and biosafety farming processes to help breeds grow and develop well. The output of aquatic breeds in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 21,820 million, up 15.8% over the same period; of which, black tiger shrimp breeds reached 4,265 million post-larvae, and whiteleg shrimp breeds reached 17,145 million post-larvae.
The above results were achieved thanks to favorable weather conditions and effective farming processes; at the same time, the work of promoting the connection between supply and demand was promoted, so most shrimp seed production facilities in the province had an expanded market and increased consumption. Particularly, the output of commercial aquaculture products was estimated at 3,941 tons, an increase of 6.9% over the same period. From the application of high technology in marine farming using submerged cage technology to raise lobsters and high-value fish that adapt to windy conditions and deep sea areas, high-value seafood products increased sharply such as: Lobster, pearl grouper... Along with that, environmental monitoring activities were carried out regularly, promptly warning, helping farming facilities and households respond effectively, regulate production plans appropriately, contributing to creating added value and opening up a new direction for the province's marine farming industry to be stable and sustainable.
According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Long, Director of the Department of Sea and Fisheries, in order to continue to maintain the growth momentum of aquatic production activities, the industry continues to monitor fishing ground information, orient fishermen to focus on effective exploitation; at the same time, implement support policies according to Decision No. 48/2010/QD-TTg on reorganizing offshore and coastal seafood exploitation. Along with that, coordinate with coastal localities to reasonably structure aquaculture areas, select and develop key aquaculture species associated with protecting the marine ecological environment.
