Nam Dinh have qualified for the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two 2024-2025.
On the afternoon of June 10, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) officially updated the number of clubs that will be directly admitted to the group stage and must compete in the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026. Accordingly, in the Eastern region, 1 place in the group stage will belong to the club that must leave the AFC Champions League Elite qualifying round.
The next 10 direct tickets are allocated according to AFC principles (including 1 team from Vietnam). The remaining 5 tickets will be competed for by 6 other clubs from national championships including: Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia. In which, based on the national championship rankings in the East Asian ranking system, teams from Thailand (ranked 4th), Vietnam (ranked 7th), Hong Kong (China, ranked 8th), Singapore (ranked 9th) will be given special privileges to go straight to the group stage. Meanwhile, 2 teams from the Philippines (ranked 10th) and Indonesia (ranked 11th) will have to compete for the last ticket to the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26.
Thus, in addition to 1 spot eliminated from AFC Champions League Elite, 15 spots in the Eastern region participating in AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026 will be divided as follows: 5 teams from the national leagues of Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Malaysia (1 team each).
4 national tournaments including: Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), Singapore will have 2 representatives going straight to the group stage. Of which, the representatives of Thailand, Hong Kong (China) and Singapore have been determined to be: Ratchaburi (Thailand), Eastern (Hong Kong), Tampines Rovers (Singapore). The case of Vietnam will be updated in the near future.
In the case of the Philippines, one representative will qualify directly for the group stage of the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Two. The other representative, Manila Digger FC, will compete in the qualifying round against Persib Bandung (Indonesia). This is also the only Indonesian representative to participate in the AFC Champions League next season, but must start from the qualifying round.
The match between Manila Digger FC and Persib Bandung will take place on August 13. The winner will be the 16th and final club from the Eastern Region to compete in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Two group stage.
VFF will announce that the remaining representatives of Vietnam participating in AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026 will be the defending champion and runner-up of V-League 2024-2025 or the champions of V-League and National Cup 2024-2025.
