ANTD.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the total electricity production and import output in the remaining months of 2023 is estimated at 95.6-97.2 billion kWh, an increase of 9.9%-11.8% over the same period in 2022.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, total electricity output in September (up to September 27, 2023) reached 21,164 billion kWh.

In the first 9 months of 2023, the total electricity production and import output of the whole system reached about 210.3 billion kWh, an increase of 3.35% over the same period in 2022, reaching 73.9% compared to the approved plan for 2023.

Calculations by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) show that the total electricity output produced and imported by the entire system in the remaining months (September-December) is estimated to reach 95.6-97.2 billion kWh, an increase of 9.9%-11.8% over the same period in 2022.

Accumulated for the whole year of 2023, the total electricity production and import output of the whole system is estimated to reach 281.9-283.6 billion kWh, an increase of about 5.1-5.7% over the same period in 2022, reaching 99.1-99.6% compared to the approved plan for 2023.

"Electricity supply in the remaining months of 2023 will basically be guaranteed, meeting enough electricity for production, business and people's daily needs," the Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is continuing to direct EVN and the National Power System Dispatch Center (A0) to develop a 2024 power supply plan to ensure the highest level of power supply for production and people's daily life in 2024.

Meanwhile, the latest report from EVN shows that in the past 9 months, coal-fired thermal power accounted for more than 46.3%, hydropower accounted for 27.7%. Coal-fired thermal power is still the main source of electricity in the power system.

In 2023, the power shortage that occurred in May and June was partly due to the fact that EVN and its member units did not proactively source coal for electricity production. However, to prepare for a more stable and continuous power supply in 2024, EVN and TKV, Dong Bac Coal Corporation recently signed agreements on coal supply for electricity production.
