FOCUS ON URBAN DEVELOPMENT
Although the province's urbanization rate has developed in recent years, it is still generally below the national average. Therefore, the province is focusing on promoting urban development in the province's economic -urban regions.

According to Vice Chairman of My Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Quang Thanh, in the coming time, My Tho City will mobilize resources for urban development and beautification. Specifically, the city will focus on calling for and creating favorable conditions for investors to implement urban development projects such as: Xang Cuc Canal, Ward 6; Nguyen Cong Binh Street and residential areas on both sides of the road from Pham Hung Street to Provincial Road 870; Northeast Urban Area of My Tho City...
When these projects are implemented, they will create a breakthrough in urban development, contributing to improving the quality of the criteria for type I urban areas under the province that have been achieved and completing the criteria that have not been achieved, worthy of being the core urban area of the Central region.
In addition, the city will focus on accelerating the task of adjusting the general planning of My Tho City until 2030; reviewing zoning plans and details of urban development projects in the area to promptly adjust them to the actual situation. The city will focus on implementing public investment projects according to the 2025 plan.
At the same time, speed up the completion of ongoing projects such as: Road D7 and residential areas on both sides of the road, An Hoa Residential Area... At the same time, the city will develop a medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030; in which, priority will be given to urban development and embellishment projects.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Van Meo, to increase the province's urbanization rate to 40% - 42% by 2025 and 45% - 47% by 2030, the province will focus on developing urban areas with comprehensive functions and a reasonable population size in the direction of smart, modern, ecological urban areas adapting to climate change.
The province will focus on developing strong linkages between sectors, urban areas, and urban corridors. “To increase the urbanization rate to meet the planned target in 2025, the Construction sector proposes to establish 10 more type V urban areas including: Thien Ho, Tan Tay, Phu My, Hoa Khanh, Long Trung, My Thanh Nam, Long Binh, Dong Son, Ben Tranh, and Long Dinh,” added Mr. Nguyen Van Meo.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, Tien Giang will continue to invest in building synchronous urban infrastructure in the central urban areas of the three economic regions (My Tho City, Go Cong City, Cai Lay Town), in accordance with the development scale of each region; focus on investing in completing the water supply and drainage system; treating urban waste and industrial parks (IPs), industrial clusters (ICs).
One of the important solutions is to manage construction according to urban planning, linking urban development investment with construction planning. The province strives to build synchronously and gradually improve urban quality towards modernizing the urban infrastructure system...
INDUSTRY DRIVES THE ECONOMY
Currently, the province is promoting industrial development with two areas planned to focus on industrial development: Southeast Tan Phuoc and Go Cong. Based on this orientation, localities are focusing on accelerating industrial projects.
According to Chairman of Tan Phuoc District People's Committee Tran Hoang Phong, the locality is planned to be one of the two industrial development centers of the province. According to the plan, the district has 6 industrial parks including: Long Giang, Tan Phuoc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 industrial clusters.

Currently, Long Giang Industrial Park has an area of 540 hectares and is in operation, with an occupancy rate of 85%. In the coming time, the district will focus on supporting Long Giang Industrial Park to call for investment to fill it. The investor of the Industrial Park strives to fill it in the period of 2025 - 2026.
In addition, the district also has Tan Phuoc 1 Industrial Park, which has been approved by the Prime Minister for investment policy and investors. Currently, this industrial park is being seized and counted with very good progress. The inspection is expected to be completed in about 2 months. Accelerating the completion of Tan Phuoc 1 Industrial Park will be a premise for the province to deploy the next industrial parks in the area.
There are 4 industrial parks planned for implementation in the district; of which, Thanh Tan industrial park has completed the inventory and inventory; is carrying out procedures for re-issuance and extension of time, after which compensation will be carried out. For My Phuoc 1, 2, 3 industrial parks, the site is 100% cleared, awaiting auction procedures.
According to Vice Chairman of Go Cong Dong District People's Committee Le Hong Tam, Gia Thuan 1 Industrial Park has been put into operation in the area, with an occupancy rate of 54.23%. The district is continuing to call for investment to fill this industrial park. Gia Thuan 2 Industrial Park is currently constructing technical infrastructure.
For the Soai Rap Oil and Gas Depot Project, Nam Song Hau Petro, the district has handed over the land to the investor and the Provincial People's Committee has decided to lease the land. The investor is adjusting the project investment certificate.
According to comrade Le Hong Tam, in the coming time, the district will focus on reviewing and adjusting the planning and land use plan to ensure consistency with the approved provincial planning to create a basis for calling for investment and implementing projects. At the same time, proactively coordinate with provincial departments, branches, and investors to urge and create favorable conditions to accelerate the construction progress of Gia Thuan 2 Industrial Park infrastructure...
The marine economy is identified as the driving force for development of the district and the province, so the district will focus on attracting investment to form comprehensive seaports, logistics centers along the Soai Rap River, smart urban areas, urban areas combining residential and coastal resorts, etc.
