A post on billionaire Mark Zuckerberg's account shares about his luxury cow farming project.

On January 10, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg posted a photo on Instagram of eating a medium-rare steak from the Ko'olau farm (an area of nearly 6 km2 ) in Kauai, Hawaii's oldest island.

"Started raising cattle on Ko'olau Ranch in Kauai, and my goal is to produce world-class quality beef," Mr. Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram, adding that he raises the most expensive breeds of cattle, Wagyu and Angus.

"Each cow eats about 5,000 to 10,000 pounds of food a year, which means a lot of macadamia nuts need to be grown. My girls help me plant the macadamia trees and take care of the cows. We're still early in the journey, and it's been fun to see how things have improved over the course of a season. Of all the projects I've worked on, this is the most rewarding," Zuckerberg added.

Bloomberg estimates that the Facebook billionaire is the sixth richest person in the world with a fortune of 129 billion USD.

The cattle will be fed macadamia nuts and beer at the $100 million farm, which features underground bunkers and operates energy projects, according to Wired.

The American billionaire's cow-raising project immediately faced criticism from environmental activists.

Beer contributes to deforestation, water pollution and global warming, and climate scientists warn that beer consumption, especially in developed countries, must be reduced if the harmful effects on the environment are to be limited.

Additionally, an adult cow can release up to 500 liters of methane per day, with methane accounting for about 3.7% of total greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
