After two consecutive weeks of early eliminations from major tournaments in France and England, Vietnam’s number one female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh will turn her attention to other, more suitable tournaments in Europe. This week, Thuy Linh will compete in the Super 300 tournament in Switzerland, called the Swiss Open, which will take place from March 19 to March 24.

At the tournament in Switzerland, Thuy Linh was not seeded but had a less difficult draw than in France and England in the past 2 weeks. Accordingly, Thuy Linh's opponent in the first round was determined to be the young player born in 2005, Ester Wardoyo of Indonesia (ranked 37th in the world ).

If she wins, Thuy Linh will likely face a familiar opponent in regional and continental tournaments - Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, world number 7 and the tournament's second seed.

The top seed at the Swiss Open is Carolina Marin, the Spaniard who reached the final of the All England Open last week.

Currently, Thuy Linh is ranked 16th on the list of players who will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. If she gains more points to reach 14th place, the Vietnamese player will have a chance to be seeded.
