All the scenes of Thuong Tin in Coolies never cry was made in Ha Tinh . The male artist had to travel by car for more than a day from Ho Chi Minh City to the filming location because he no longer had a citizen ID card and could not take a plane. A long-time fan followed Thuong Tin to support and take care of him during the 5 days of working with the film crew.

Director Pham Ngoc Lan said that artist Thuong Tin was enthusiastic and supported the film crew despite having just suffered a serious illness. "The character of artist Thuong Tin in the film looks tired, but in fact, when filming, he was very determined," the director said.

People's Artist Minh Chau and Meritorious Artist Thanh Hien were moved when they reunited with a colleague they had not seen for a long time on the set. People's Artist Minh Chau said that artist Thuong Tin was a close friend of her and her husband. When he was young, every time he worked in Hanoi , artist Thuong Tin often visited artist Minh Chau at home.

Coolies never cry The film revolves around the character Mrs. Nguyen (People's Artist Minh Chau). She returned to Vietnam from Europe, bringing with her her ex-husband's ashes and a coolie. In the midst of her turmoil, she received news that her niece wanted to get married to a younger lover. By chance, she met a young man and asked her niece's boyfriend to take her to meet many friends she hadn't seen for a long time.

In the film, artist Thuong Tin plays the role connexion by People's Artist Minh Chau. The director said that his role did not appear much but had a great influence on the main character's psychological development. Throughout 92 minutes, the film tells about the connection between the present and the past, interwoven with the stories of disabled people and people with difficult circumstances in life.

Before preparing to premiere in Vietnam, Coolies never cry premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and won the Best Debut Film award. The film, directed by Pham Ngoc Lan, later won many awards such as Best Feature Film at the 2024 Jeonju International Film Festival, Best Asian Film at the 2024 Da Nang Asian Film Festival...
