Nationwide recall of 2 fake sunscreens

Two sunscreen products concluded by the police to be counterfeit have been requested by the Drug Administration to be recalled nationwide; do not buy, sell or use.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) has just announced the suspension of circulation and nationwide recall of two sunscreen cosmetic products that were concluded to be counterfeit.

In which, Vitamin C sunscreen (cosmetic declaration receipt number: 242/24/CBMP-PT), is responsible for and distributes the product to the market by Athena Vietnam Production and Trading Company Limited, located in Viet Tri City (old), Phu Tho province.

Sun cream (receipt number of Cosmetic Declaration Form: 39/22/CBMP-PT); Lovis Cosmetics Company Limited, located in Uong Bi City (old), Quang Ninh province, is responsible for and distributes the product to the market.

The Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of 2 sunscreens, concluding that they were "counterfeit goods".

According to the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the two cosmetics were recalled because the product samples were examined at the Institute of Criminal Science of the Ministry of Public Security with an SPF (sun protection index) of less than 70% compared to the declared value on the packaging and the Economic Police Department, Phu Tho Provincial Police concluded that they were counterfeit goods, according to Decree 98/2020 of the Government.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the provincial and municipal health departments to notify and inspect establishments that sell and use cosmetics; and to educate local people not to buy, sell, or use the above products.

Direct the Testing Center to increase sampling and quality inspection of cosmetic products circulating in the area; set up a hotline to receive information about fake cosmetics, smuggled cosmetics, and cosmetics of unknown origin in the area to promptly coordinate with competent authorities to verify and handle.

The Department also requested the Phu Tho Provincial Department of Health to coordinate with local authorities to monitor Athena Vietnam Production and Trading Company Limited and Lovis Cosmetics Company Limited in recalling violating products.
