Coach Popov was suspended from coaching this afternoon, having received three yellow cards since the beginning of the season. But without the Bulgarian coach, Thanh Hoa still confidently entered the match at Hoa Xuan Stadium, Da Nang. The away team continuously attacked the goal and took only 7 minutes to open the score. From the middle of the field, Nguyen Thai Son passed to Rimario who rushed straight into the penalty area. The Jamaican striker calmly handled the ball in front of center-back Stephen Eze, then gently placed the ball into the right corner, leaving goalkeeper Tong Duc An standing still and watching.

At this point, Quang Nam woke up and gradually created opportunities. In the 36th minute, Dinh Bac dribbled the ball on the right wing and then released it in front of the penalty area, allowing Paulo Conrado to shoot hard into the left corner, but goalkeeper Trinh Xuan Hoang's reflexes were superb.
