The AI Global Governance Practice Center (AIGPC) will serve as a platform for sharing experiences, training, and supporting the implementation of international ethical standards in AI. This is one of the prominent initiatives announced during the 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on AI Ethics, held in Bangkok.

The center is intended to oversee the implementation of global recommendations for ethical AI development and to promote interdisciplinary and international cooperation in the field of new technologies. It will also conduct training courses, conduct research, and develop a set of criteria for assessing the safety, transparency, and human-centeredness of AI applications.
Thailand’s AI development strategy is defined with three core goals: increasing the application of technology in pillar areas such as healthcare, education and agriculture ; controlling technology risks including fake content and online fraud; and ensuring the human element remains central in all AI system development and deployment processes.
The government also announced a large-scale investment plan to realize the national AI strategy. Of this, more than 15.4 billion USD will be used to build core technology infrastructure, nearly 62 million USD will be spent on developing open source platforms and open data systems. In addition, the goal of training 90,000 experts and 50,000 AI programmers is set within the next few years.
The establishment of the AIGPC is considered a step that clearly demonstrates the direction of developing AI associated with social responsibility, based on ethics and community benefits. The Center will also be a focal point for coordinating with UNESCO and international organizations in monitoring ethical commitments related to new technologies.
With this initiative, Thailand aims to become a regional hub in promoting responsible AI development, minimizing risks, and ensuring that technology serves human interests in the digital age.
