According to the Bangkok Post, Thai authorities have neutralized an object suspected to be an explosive device found in an abandoned motorbike at Phuket International Airport on the evening of June 25.
Officers from the police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit and K-9 dog team conducted a detailed inspection of the motorbike that was left unattended on the airport premises at around 7pm on June 25.

Initial investigation revealed that an object resembling an improvised explosive device had been concealed in the vehicle. Officers quickly sealed off a 200-meter radius around the location in accordance with the highest security protocols. The EOD team then conducted a controlled explosion to neutralize the threat.
Monchai Tanod, Director of Phuket International Airport, confirmed that airport officials acted in coordination with Phuket provincial police according to the emergency response plan.
"The EOD team defused the suspicious device using controlled explosives. We would like to assure all passengers that the screening at Phuket Airport is thorough, including all luggage and personal belongings. We are increasing surveillance in public areas that are not normally subject to security checks to ensure the safety of passengers," said Monchai Tanod.
Police Major General Sinlert Sukhum, commander of the Phuket Provincial Police Department, said officers have increased checks at all security checkpoints across the province.
According to Phuket airport authorities, the security incident did not affect flights or airport operations.
