The event brings together leading domestic and international experts to update modern diagnostic and treatment techniques, as well as improve the capacity of pediatric eye care in Vietnam. In particular, foreign experts also share about non-surgical strabismus treatment methods. Protecting bright, healthy eyes for future generations starts with early detection, proper treatment and scientific care.
According to statistics, in Vietnam in 2024, there will be about 5 million children, accounting for 30-40% of school-age students, suffering from refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism - of which myopia accounts for the majority. In big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, this rate exceeds 50%, mainly due to unreasonable study habits and excessive use of electronic devices. If not detected and treated promptly, many children may face amblyopia - also known as "lazy eye", causing permanent vision loss.
Along with the increase in refractive errors, children also face the risk of developing strabismus and nystagmus - conditions that can severely affect visual development.
To protect the eyes of future generations, regular eye examinations, early detection and timely treatment are extremely important, especially in the context of the increasing rate of school myopia in Vietnam.
