Today marks the 66th anniversary of the Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai Uprising (August 28, 1959 - August 28, 2025). 66 years have passed, but the echoes of the Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai Uprising still hold true. It is not only a historical milestone, but also a flame of faith, urging generations today to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors. On the heroic land of the past, the Cor people today are continuing the tradition, uniting, striving to develop the economy, building a new life, so that the appearance of their homeland will increasingly improve.

Forever the flame of Tra Bong uprising.

The Tra Bong and Western Quang Ngai uprising on August 28, 1959 was the earliest armed uprising in the South, opening the way for the Dong Khoi movement and opening up the revolutionary stream in the South in the struggle against the US to save the country, becoming the pride of the people of Quang Ngai and the whole country. From the fire of the uprising, today, the Cor people in Tra Bong are still loyal to the Party and Uncle Ho.

Promoting that tradition, the Cor people in Tra Bong today continue to unite, strive to develop the economy , and build their homeland to become more prosperous. Mr. Ho Ngoc Thai (Tra Bong commune) said that his family has stabilized the economy, raised their children to study, and together with the people helped each other escape poverty sustainably.

Overcoming difficult days, from a land with weak infrastructure and underdeveloped socio-economy, Tra Bong today has blossomed with new vitality. The economy has grown steadily, culture and society have increasingly flourished, the rural infrastructure system has been invested synchronously, and the life of the Cor people has constantly improved. In particular, the Cor people today have boldly thought of new things, innovated, developed garden economy, planted cinnamon, medicinal plants, and combined with livestock raising. With the support of the State, together with hard work and the will to change, many families have food and savings, and their lives are increasingly prosperous.

Mr. Ho Van Bien, Tra Bong commune, Quang Ngai province shared that before 1975, people's lives were still difficult, their houses were made of bamboo and thatch. Later, thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, houses made of bamboo and thatch were eliminated, then temporary and dilapidated houses were eliminated, hunger was eliminated and poverty was reduced. People were very excited.

Promoting the tradition of uprising, in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Tra Bong have united and made efforts to turn their homeland from a land of many difficulties into a bright spot of change in the mountainous region of Quang Ngai. In the 2020-2025 term, the local economy grew by an average of more than 7% per year, with total production value reaching more than 1,100 billion VND. National target programs for poverty reduction and support policies of the State have been effectively implemented, with the poverty rate decreasing rapidly each year. Along with economic development, Tra Bong also preserves and promotes its cultural identity, combining with natural potential to develop community tourism . Culture and economy blend together, adding new vitality to the land rich in revolutionary traditions.

According to Mr. Ho Kim Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Bong Commune, Quang Ngai Province, up to now, the rate of poor households in the whole commune is 10.25%, and near-poor households is 11.35%. The commune aims to have basically no poor households by 2030 and meet new rural standards.

In the homeland of Tra Bong uprising in the past, the Cor people today are continuing to write a new history, a history of change and development. The flame of uprising still burns forever, becoming the driving force for Tra Bong to steadily move forward, building a rich, beautiful and prosperous land.
