SAT exam incident in Hanoi due to global system error?

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên08/03/2025

This morning, March 8, the SAT exam system suddenly crashed with little time left, affecting many candidates and forcing them to stop taking the exam.

At the SAT test site at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a candidate said that with only about 22 minutes left to finish the test, the system automatically submitted his test.

The exam site at the Banking Academy also had a similar problem at the same time, due to slow procedures, the system automatically submitted the candidates' papers when there were nearly 25 minutes left.

When the candidate was confused, the supervisor asked him to stay and wait for a solution, but then informed the candidate to go home and wait for information and a specific solution via email.

Many candidates reported that they had not finished the test. Those who finished quickly had 12-13 questions left, while those who finished slowly had 16-17 questions left in the math section. This incident will certainly have a huge impact on the candidates' results.

Meanwhile, IIGEducation , the unit authorized by the College Board (the owner of the SAT test) to implement the SAT test in Vietnam, said that this morning's incident was due to a global system error of the College Board. IIG immediately contacted the College Board to provide early information to customers.

Regarding providing information to the press in Vietnam, the IIG representative also asked journalists to send related questions about this incident directly to the College Board "to receive the latest and most accurate information about the SAT exam this morning".

The SAT includes reading, writing and math sections. It is a standardized aptitude test widely accepted for university admission in many countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, etc. In Vietnam, many universities also use this test for combined admission or direct admission.

In Vietnam, the SAT exam fee is 2.6 million VND/time.
