According to information from the official website of Implicit Conversions, a studio behind PlayStation Classics titles and also the development team, is working on a PlayStation 3 emulator package for the "Syrup" platform. A technology that supports running classic titles on PlayStation 5.
The project is still in its early stages and is listed under the "Dreaming About" category, suggesting that it will take some time to complete. This means that PlayStation 3 fans will have to wait a little longer before they can play these titles directly on the PS5 without an internet connection or using a cloud service.
PS3 emulation on PS5 allows players to re-experience classic games without having to own an old PS3 or rely on remastered versions.

While it's still a long shot, it's not impossible. A recent test with the AMD BC-250—a data mining card based on the PS5's silicon architecture—proved that the PS5 hardware can handle PS3 titles just fine. Games like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Little Big Planet ran smoothly and at higher native resolutions.
However, the testing also revealed some limitations, such as driver-related memory issues, which will need to be addressed before Sony officially rolls out the emulation. However, these initial results are positive, and reinforce the potential for PlayStation 3 emulation directly on the PlayStation 5.
Currently, PlayStation 5 users will still have to use cloud services if they want to play PlayStation 3 titles. This service requires a stable internet connection, which is not always convenient for all gamers. If Sony succeeds in developing direct emulation, this will be a big step forward that will not only improve the player experience but also increase competitiveness in the market.
