Great FULLYING
On the morning of August 30, the U.23 Vietnam team visited the Hung Kings Historical Site ( Phu Tho province) to offer incense to commemorate the Hung Kings - the ancestors who built the country. At Kinh Thien Palace on Nghia Linh Mountain, the U.23 Vietnam coaching staff reported on the proud achievements that Vietnamese football has achieved, most recently winning the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship in Indonesia. Coach Kim Sang-sik and the whole team expressed their determination to unite, train constantly, and compete with all their might for the country's flag. The U.23 Vietnam team aims to not only pass the U.23 Asia qualifiers but also strive to bring fans quality matches in 3 days.

At noon on August 30, the Bangladesh U.23 team arrived in Phu Tho province, preparing for the opening match against the Vietnam U.23 team on September 3. The South Asian opponent is a notable unknown as it possesses striker Cuba Mitchell, who has played for youth teams in England such as Birmingham and Sunderland. Therefore, coach Kim Sang-sik will certainly have thorough preparations for the defense that played very well in the recent Southeast Asian U.23 tournament.
The two remaining opponents in Group C, U.23 Yemen and U.23 Singapore (visiting Vietnam on August 31 and September 1, respectively), both competed with us in the qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U-23 Championship, also at Viet Tri Stadium. At that time, Thanh Nhan and his teammates defeated U.23 Yemen 1-0 (Bui Vi Hao scored) before drawing U.23 Singapore 2-2 with 2 goals from Dinh Bac and Huu Nam. Notably, U.23 Yemen showed great determination when bringing to Vietnam 3 strikers Abdulaziz Masnoum, Qassem Al-Sharafi and Hamza Mahrous, all of whom are national team players. All 3 of these players were in the Yemen squad against Bhutan and Lebanon in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Obviously, the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers will not be easy for any opponent. But coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are confident and determined to continue their unbeaten streak, even aiming for a perfect record, when playing on the "sacred field" Viet Tri in the land of Hung Kings Temple.
MR. KIM UPGRADES U.23 Vietnam
On the afternoon of August 30, the U.23 Vietnam team had its first training session at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho province), where coach Kim Sang-sik directly led the team for the second consecutive time with the goal of passing the qualifying round and winning a ticket to the final round of the 2026 U.23 Asian Cup. Mr. Kim kept almost the same squad that had won the Southeast Asian U.23 Championship, with 22/23 names present, except for Thanh Dat who was not called. Notably, the U.23 Vietnam team welcomed two very important new players, the return of striker Thanh Nhan and overseas Vietnamese player Tran Thanh Trung.
Thanh Nhan was once coach Kim Sang-sik's first choice to pair with Dinh Bac on the U.23 Vietnam team's attack line in a 3-5-2 formation. Dinh Bac's physique and bravery will create a great complement to Thanh Nhan's good passing, creating and exploiting space skills. The PVF-CAND striker's ankle injury before leaving forced Mr. Kim to try a series of experiments with Quoc Viet, Le Viktor, Ngoc My and finally Cong Phuong. Thanh Nhan's return to top form after 3 matches in the 2025-2026 V-League will bring a huge boost, helping to upgrade the U.23 Vietnam team's attack line.
Tran Thanh Trung is playing from the bench in V-League, following the roadmap of Ninh Binh FC to help him gradually adapt to the weather and football in Vietnam. But the capital of nearly 50 top matches in the Bulgarian national championship of the young player is a guarantee of his level of playing and practical experience. The U.23 Vietnam midfield, which is already strong with Xuan Bac, Van Truong, Van Khang, Thai Son, promises to be even more formidable thanks to this new factor.
