Vam Co Dong River is clear, ensuring smooth traffic.

On the afternoon of June 25, the Department of Construction - the standing agency of the Steering Committee for water hyacinth treatment on the Vam Co Dong River, together with related units, organized an inspection and evaluation of the results of water hyacinth treatment on the Vam Co Dong River section passing through the province.

The inspection aims to evaluate the results of water hyacinth treatment by AgriS Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company (formerly Thanh Thanh Cong Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company) according to Contract No. 14-HD-XLLB, dated November 30, 2022 between Tay Ninh Department of Transport (now Tay Ninh Department of Construction) on water hyacinth treatment on Vam Co Dong River and canals in the province.

Only a few water hyacinths remain, concentrated along the shore.

Accordingly, the inspection team conducted inspections at several sections of the river that often have a lot of water hyacinth, from the upper reaches of the Vam Co Dong River in Phuoc Vinh Commune, Chau Thanh District to the lower reaches of the river in Phuoc Chi Commune, Trang Bang Town.

At the time of inspection on June 25, 2025, the water hyacinth situation on the Vam Co Dong River flowing through the province had been effectively handled. Currently, the river surface is basically clear, the amount of water hyacinth remaining is very small and does not hinder waterway traffic.

The surface of the Dong Nai River through Ben Keo port is clear of water hyacinth.

The Vam Co Dong River flows through Tay Ninh province for about 105km, starting from the border area between Vietnam and Cambodia in Phuoc Vinh commune, Chau Thanh district to the border with Long An province in Phuoc Chi commune, Trang Bang town.

In addition, the province has 124 canals and streams with a total length of 280km flowing into the Vam Co Dong River. In recent years, water hyacinth has grown rapidly, covering the river surface, especially during the dry months every year, making it difficult for waterway vehicles to travel.

The surface of the Dong Nai River, past Ben Dinh Bridge, has almost no water hyacinth.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Chau - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, from the end of 2022, the work of handling water hyacinth on the Vam Co Dong River has been assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to AgriS Agricultural Development Joint Stock Company. After nearly 3 years, the amount of water hyacinth on the Vam Co Dong River has gradually decreased each year, ensuring smooth and safe navigation for water vehicles. During the implementation process, the construction unit regularly organizes water hyacinth removal, ensuring the flow and environmental landscape on the river.

Check the status of water hyacinth at Ben Keo port.

Every month, the Department of Construction presides over and coordinates with the locality's working group to inspect and evaluate the density of water hyacinth on the Vam Co Dong River and in canals and ditches to serve as a basis for accepting water hyacinth treatment work for the construction unit.

Good control of water hyacinth on the Vam Co Dong River not only contributes to protecting the ecological environment but also creates favorable conditions for trade, waterway transport, riverside agricultural development as well as effective flood prevention and control in the upcoming rainy season.
