Confusing announcement from TikTok. |
On the afternoon of July 16, domestic TikTok users unexpectedly received a notification from the platform. Most owners who opened the app between 4-7pm that day received a strange notification.
“Edit your profile. We detected that your account is falsely impersonating another person or organization. As a result, your account will no longer be recommended to others. You can edit your profile or file a complaint if you believe this was a mistake,” TikTok sends a notification as soon as a user opens the app.
The above content causes confusion for account owners who post videos , because not being recommended will cause the channel to lose all viewers, when TikTok traffic mainly comes from the distribution algorithm.
However, when users clicked to appeal, the platform only displayed a loading screen, with no content. “I didn’t dare post a video after seeing that notification. This account is also the owner, not impersonating anyone,” Thuy Dung, a social media content creator, shared.

"Error" on TikTok makes many users wonder and confused. |
On Facebook, hundreds of posts appeared mentioning TikTok's copyright notice. In groups, this content received great attention and attracted many comments when many users received warnings from the platform.
According to Tri Thuc - Znews , TikTok only sent this notice to Vietnamese users, there were no reports from other regions. The short video social network has not yet sent any notice to customers after the incident. Therefore, it is unclear whether this is a mistake or a large-scale crackdown by TikTok.
On the other hand, only a few accounts verified by the platform, with blue ticks, were not affected.
Talking to Tri Thuc - Znews , Mr. Pham Ngoc, founder of MCN Nova Network, who is collaborating with TikTok Vietnam, commented that this is only a short-term error, although it affects a large number of users. "Users can ignore or close the app and reopen it, the above notification will disappear, it does not affect anything," Mr. Ngoc said.
DP, an employee of a multi-channel network management company in Vietnam, shared that TikTok has informed its partners that this is just an error, not a copyright or counterfeit issue from domestic users. Therefore, account owners can continue to use it as usual.
