Da Nang Department of Construction requests proactive response to storm No. 5

The Department of Construction requires units in charge of managing and regularly maintaining roads and inland waterways to proactively carry out regular maintenance of roads and inland waterways; ensure drainage works are always clear, and the signaling system is complete and clear.

Prevention and overcoming of natural disaster consequences must ensure safety for people, equipment and construction items; special attention must be paid to construction items in mountainous areas that are prone to flash floods and landslides.

Concentrate materials, equipment and human resources to proactively overcome the consequences of floods on the assigned roads. Check key road areas and weak bridges for repair and restoration to ensure smooth traffic in the fastest time.

Timely grasp information on traffic situations on routes, report to the Department of Construction; coordinate with local authorities to organize duty, regulate traffic, assign guards, install buoys, barriers, and signals at flooded locations, overflow tunnels, broken roads, and landslides.

The Department of Construction requires construction and supervision units of repair works on roads and inland waterways to move people to safety; gather machinery and equipment in convenient places, not obstructing traffic, to be ready to respond in case of traffic jams.

Proactively stock up on food, medicine, and raw materials to prevent traffic jams and isolation for many days. Regularly update traffic and damage reports to the Department of Construction for timely direction and handling.

Request the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to implement Official Dispatch No. 03, dated August 23, 2025 of the City People's Committee on implementing measures to respond to storm No. 5. Closely coordinate with sectors and levels, mobilize materials and equipment on site to quickly overcome incidents caused by floods and rains in order to clear the route as soon as possible.

Implement traffic flow and ensure traffic on routes according to management levels in the area (district roads and urban roads previously managed by the People's Committees of districts and towns located in the new commune-level areas).

Timely grasp information on damage to the transport infrastructure system, promptly report to the Department of Construction for synthesis. Review, inspect, thoroughly implement storm response work of inland waterway ports, cross-river passenger ports (if any) in the area, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles when storms and floods occur.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said that the industry has requested Project Management Board 4 and project management boards under the city to inspect the site of unfinished construction works, requiring contractors to take preventive measures to ensure safety during the rainy and stormy season. Move machinery and equipment to higher places to avoid flooding; be ready to support localities and people in responding to floods and storms.

Inspect and be responsible for traffic safety on projects that are both under construction and in operation such as National Highway 14B, National Highway 14E, National Highway 40B, DT601, DT602, DT609 or DT619; mobilize vehicles, equipment and human resources to ensure smooth and safe traffic.
