According to the Ministry of Construction , the coastal road has a total length of 2,838km, formed on the basis of combining national highways (623km) and local roads (2,215km). The project is planned, managed, invested in, and maintained by localities.
To date, about 1,397km have been put into operation (including 595km of national highway sections, 802km of local road sections); about 633km are under construction.
Of these, 239km are being implemented by localities closely following the plan, ensuring the goal of completing over 1,000km of coastal roads by 2025 (excluding sections overlapping national highways).
The provinces implementing the coastal road project are scheduled to be completed in 2025, including Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Hue City, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau , Ca Mau, Kien Giang. The Ministry of Construction requested these localities to strictly control the progress, urge contractors to increase human resources and equipment to soon complete and put the project into operation.
The Ministry of Construction also said that there are currently about 411km of coastal roads being prepared for investment, mainly local road projects in the Mekong Delta region, with nearly 400km yet to be invested.
