V-League ticket for Vietnam U.23 'young shoots'
As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, Quang Nam FC has abandoned the V-League, due to not submitting a registration list after the registration deadline with Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) closed on July 31. Although there were rumors that there were businesses willing to pay sponsorship, in the end, Quang Nam FC was not saved. The Quang Nam team said goodbye to the V-League and may disappear from the Vietnamese football map.
Initially, the plan was to invite Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club (formerly Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc ) to replace Quang Nam in the V-League. However, coach Nguyen Viet Thang's team refused, citing the lack of preparation, and the Southeast representative also wanted to be promoted "in a fair way".

Therefore, the ticket was pushed to PVF-CAND. According to the investigation, the team, which is headquartered in Hung Yen, will play in the V-League next season. In an interview with Thanh Nien Newspaper, Coach Thach Bao Khanh confirmed that the team has not yet received an official announcement from the leadership, but everything will be clear next week in a meeting between the board of directors and club members.
Next season, V-League will have all 14 teams. At the same time, PVF-CAND will be present in the highest level of Vietnamese football for the first time in history, after 7 years of "submerging" in the first division. When still known as Pho Hien Club, PVF-CAND finished second in the 2019 first division, then lost to Thanh Hoa in the promotion match. In the 2023-2024 season, PVF-CAND won the first division runner-up position to get a play-off ticket, but lost 2-3 to Ha Tinh in the V-League ticket match.
Last season, PVF-CAND finished third with 43 points after 20 matches, just one point behind runners-up Truong Tuoi Dong Nai. Mid-season, PVF-CAND parted ways with coach Mauro Jeronimo and appointed coach Thach Bao Khanh, but the former The Cong Viettel strategist could not help PVF-CAND earn a ticket to the V-League. However, the door was suddenly opened when Quang Nam withdrew from the tournament, bringing the Hung Yen-based team to the highest level of Vietnamese football.
This can be considered good news for the "young" U.23 Vietnam squad such as Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Xuan Bac and Vo Anh Quan.
If PVF-CAND officially participates in the V-League, both Vietnamese youth football and coach Kim Sang-sik will benefit. At the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament, PVF-CAND players played well. Center back Hieu Minh started 4 matches, scored 2 goals, becoming a solid piece in the defense. Midfielder Xuan Bac started 2 matches, scored 1 goal, and is a new discovery of coach Kim Sang-sik in the midfield. Right back Anh Quan also played 4 times and played consistently on the wing.
In the V-League, the young U.23 Vietnam players will have more opportunities to compete with strong opponents to gain experience and improve. This is also a positive sign for the U.23 Vietnam team of coach Kim Sang-sik, who is in need of more experienced and battle-hardened players, instead of relying on players who only play in the first division all year round.
