Launching the "Heritage Color City" collection honoring the five-panel ao dai

Hoping to bring the five-panel ao dai closer to the public, artisan Nam Tuyen has constantly researched and learned to create ao dai that both preserves traditional features and has a modern feel.

To celebrate the 19th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 2005 - November 23, 2024), and to mark the launch of the Ao Dai Cultural Heritage Association - Ho Chi Minh City under the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Association, artisan Nam Tuyen introduced to the public and Ao Dai lovers a collection called Heritage Color City . The collection was performed right at the Ceremony to announce the decision to rank historical and cultural relics on the morning of November 22 at Ton Duc Thang Museum, towards the 19th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day.

Artisan Nam Tuyen - Head of the Ao Dai Cultural Heritage Association - Ho Chi Minh City - shared: "This is a great honor for me, and at the same time reminds me of my responsibility to spread the love of the five-panel ao dai to the public even more". Each ao dai in the Heritage City Collection is the crystallization of traditional values combined with a modern breath. Traditional materials such as Ma Chau silk ( Quang Nam ), Nha Xa silk (Duy Tien) or airy woven linen are skillfully used by artisans and skilled workers, creating five-panel ao dai that bring comfort and convenience to the wearer.

Choosing warm colors as the main theme, the collection is not monotonous but mixed with bright colors of a dynamic city like the harmony between old and new, between past and present. Besides the pure solid colors, some shirts are embroidered with patterns in the style of Hue royal court. Besides, there are designs applying sophisticated contemporary patterns, expressing the message of the continuation of the timeless values of the five-panel shirt in today's life.

Designer and artisan Nam Tuyen has more than 30 years of experience in tailoring. Since 2019, he began to learn about the five-panel ao dai. In 2020, he introduced the first five-panel ao dai collection in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
