The Provincial People's Committee has instructed departments, branches, units and localities to focus all their efforts on the entire political system, focusing on propaganda work that is always promoted, assigning departments, branches and communes, wards and coastal special zones to strengthen the management of vessels, especially vessels that do not meet the conditions for operation. For these fishing vessels, it is necessary to assign cadres and party members to monitor and grasp the anchorage position of the vessels...
Reporter Quang Huy : Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, it is expected that in September 2025, the European Commission's Inspection Delegation will come to Vietnam to inspect the conditions to remove the "Yellow Card" for Vietnamese seafood. So will Quang Ngai province focus on implementing the peak period against IUU fishing?
Mr. Binh replied: The EC delegation's request this time is to require localities to manage the fleet well, and secondly, to strengthen the handling of violations, especially those vessels that have been on the list of violations. For fishing vessels that have not returned to their localities for a long time, the province has reported to the Government and the Ministry of National Defense. In the near future, the Ministry of National Defense will launch a peak inspection campaign nationwide. For the Department of Agriculture and Environment, after receiving the directive document from the Provincial People's Committee, the Department organized a conference to discuss measures to implement the peak campaign against IUU fishing. The Department established a working group to inspect the actual situation of combating IUU fishing, inspecting vessels in communes, wards, and special zones. Directly inspect unqualified vessels, grasp the location of the vessels' anchorage, request localities to promptly correct existing problems, guide localities to support ship owners in carrying out procedures to grant licenses eligible to participate in seafaring, reduce the number of unqualified vessels and vessels at high risk of IUU violations, contributing to removing the yellow card for Vietnamese fisheries.
