The President's wife and the Queen of Bhutan offer incense at Tran Quoc Pagoda

Within the framework of the State visit of Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen, on the morning of August 19, in Hanoi , the wife of President Luong Cuong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and Bhutanese Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck visited and offered incense at Tran Quoc Pagoda (Hanoi).

Welcoming the Queen of Bhutan at the gate of Tran Quoc Pagoda, the President's wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, expressed her joy at welcoming Queen of Bhutan Jetsun Pema Wangchuck.

Many people and tourists present at the temple waved and welcomed the President's wife and Queen of Bhutan.

In the cool weather with the first rain of autumn, the President's wife and the Queen of Bhutan slowly walked from the temple gate to the worship area, admiring West Lake and the scenery of Tran Quoc Pagoda.

Venerable Thich Thanh Nha, abbot of Tran Quoc Pagoda, welcomed the President's wife and the Queen of Bhutan.

The monk introduced the pagoda with a history of nearly 1,500 years and considered the oldest in Thang Long-Hanoi; with its harmonious ancient architecture, Tran Quoc Pagoda is majestically located next to the windy West Lake. The pagoda has been voted many times by international websites as one of the most beautiful pagodas in the world .

The abbot of Tran Quoc Pagoda talked about the Bodhi tree planted in the middle of the pagoda yard. This is a Bodhi tree grafted from the Bodhi tree where Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodhgaya (India), and was presented to President Ho Chi Minh by Indian President Rajendra Prasad during his State visit to Vietnam in 1959.

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nha presented the President's wife and Queen of Bhutan with an artistically crafted Bodhi leaf.

Afterwards, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nha presented the President's wife and the Queen of Bhutan with artistically crafted Bodhi leaves and rosary beads.

Touched by the welcome of the President's wife and Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nha, Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck shared that although Bhutan and Vietnam are geographically far apart and have differences in culture and people, the two countries share the same belief in Buddhist values with the wish for peace, wisdom, tolerance and compassion.

The Queen expressed her honor to visit the ancient temple in Hanoi, listen to the teachings and sharing of the abbot, and hoped to welcome the abbot and Vietnamese monks to visit Bhutan in the future.

The Queen of Bhutan presented the temple with a hand-painted painting of Buddha and handmade Bhutanese incense products.

Afterwards, the President's wife and the Queen of Bhutan attended a prayer ceremony at the main hall of Tran Quoc Pagoda according to Vietnamese Buddhist spiritual rituals.
