In But Son town (Hoang Hoa), the work of preventing and combating domestic violence has increasingly had many positive changes. Ms. Nguyen Thi Quy, But Cuong residential group shared: “My family has 3 generations living together. To have a harmonious and happy family, each member of my family actively works and studies. As for me, to take good care of my family, I regularly learn and exchange experiences in raising healthy children, teaching good children, and learning how to handle situations in the family with the sisters in the women's association. Thanks to that, family members always love each other, no domestic violence occurs, problems in the family are resolved promptly, and conflicts do not arise.”
Not only Ms. Quy, women in But Son town are also actively participating in local club activities. Up to now, But Son town has established many models and clubs related to families such as: Happy family club; Sustainable family development club for raising good children; Domestic violence prevention club, "5 no, 3 clean" club; safe village model for women and children... attracting a large number of women to participate. The clubs regularly hold activities with a variety of contents such as: propaganda, dissemination of policies, laws of the Party and State; on gender equality, on building happy families, economic development, and raising children. At the same time, the club and model leaders have regularly followed the grassroots, grasped the family situation, thoughts and aspirations of the members. Thereby, sharing confidences and promptly resolving conflicts and difficulties for families.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of But Son town, Le Thi Kim Cuc, said: The clubs have diverse activities, people participating are not only propagandized to raise awareness, responsibility, skills in building families, preventing and combating domestic violence but also show their strengths through cultural activities, sports , dancing, singing, acting... Through these activities, women's awareness of domestic violence prevention and combat and gender equality is increasingly raised. Women have learned to fight, protect their own rights and receive the community's attention in both material and spiritual terms.
In Trieu Son district, in recent times, the Party Committee, the government and the District Women's Union have promoted propaganda work in many forms, and at the same time paid attention to establishing clubs and models for women to participate in activities, raising awareness and responsibility in building happy families. Up to now, the whole district has about 140 clubs related to families, such as: 8 clubs for preventing and combating domestic violence, 20 clubs for building happy families, 29 models of safe villages for women and children... The clubs and models have become a "common home" for women, a place to encourage, motivate and promote them to develop and assert themselves.
Chairwoman of the Trieu Son District Women's Union, Le Thi Do, said: "To promote the role of women in preventing and combating domestic violence, the most important thing is to equip women with "weapons" to protect themselves. That is, knowledge, education, awareness of self-mastery to maintain happiness, raise good children, teach good children, develop the economy, and improve themselves. Therefore, the Women's Union at all levels has focused on raising awareness for women. At the same time, organizing many activities and creating conditions for women to have the opportunity to participate in many activities to improve their knowledge and skills to develop themselves."
With the goal of joining hands to eliminate domestic violence, in recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has closely followed the core tasks of the family work of the Provincial Family Work Steering Committee. From there, documents and guidelines for organizing activities to build happy families through the implementation of models and programs of the union. Many models and activities have contributed to propaganda,education , mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women; improving knowledge and skills to build happy families, prevent domestic violence, and provide first aid to victims of domestic violence... According to data from the Provincial Women's Union, to date, the unions at all levels have established and effectively maintained 197 clubs to prevent and combat domestic violence, 932 happy family clubs, 734 "5 no, 3 clean" clubs, 499 "5 yes, 3 clean" models, and 995 "safe villages/neighborhoods for women and children" models. Many clubs operate effectively, promoting the role of women, contributing to the elimination of domestic violence.
Through the activities of the provincial Women's Union at all levels, women are increasingly aware of their role and importance in their families. At the same time, many women are confident and affirm their role and position in their families and society. To continue promoting the role of women in preventing and combating domestic violence towards building a "well-off, equal, progressive and happy" family, along with their own efforts, women also need active support from their families and society.
