According to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of August 31, the number of visitors on the walking streets in Hoi An ancient town was quite sparse. Although it was the peak of the holiday season and the weather was sunny, the number of visitors was not as crowded as in previous years.
"Over the past two days, we have sold a fair amount of tickets, but overall it is not as crowded as expected. There are fewer international visitors this time, but in return, there are quite a lot of Vietnamese visitors," said a ticket counter staff member at Hoi An Ancient Town.
Accommodations in Hoi An said that the number of guests who booked rooms but did not show up was quite high. Many people from far away were worried about bad weather, and the fact that visitors were concentrated in the capital Hanoi to watch the parade made Hoi An this year less crowded than other years on September 2nd.
To celebrate Independence Day, in recent days, Hoi An ancient town has been decorated in the red of the national flag. The streets, balconies of hotels and restaurants have all hung flags to celebrate National Day. At souvenir shops, fashion stores, etc., decorative items with the red flag with a yellow star have also been put up, creating a bustling atmosphere.
