HTV will broadcast the 20th "Golden Bell Companion" program at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 and rebroadcast at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23 on HTV9.

Two decades have passed since the first vọng cổ sound was heard in the framework of the Golden Bell vọng cổ contest - a television program organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV). From a contest to search for young talents, the program has grown to become a prestigious cultural brand, a spiritual address where cải lương lovers from all three regions find their hearts, love for their homeland and traditional values ​​in modern life.

At a time when the art of cải lương had to struggle with the challenges of the times – from the rapid shift in popular tastes to the dominance of commercial music – “Chương vàng vọng cổ” appeared as a beacon of light, steadfastly shining with a love for the profession and a long-term organizational strategy.

Not simply a competition, "Golden Bell of Traditional Music" is also a journey to preserve - conserve - develop the art of Cai Luong and Don Ca Tai Tu. Through each competition season, millions of audiences across the country anxiously follow each round of competition, each song that touches their memories, each young face that revives the spirit of a national art form that once flourished like an industry.

This year's "20th Golden Bell Companion" program marks a strategic expansion: connecting the community of cai luong lovers with artists, artisans and contemporary elements.

Three outstanding art exchange performances contributed to spreading the value of traditional Cai Luong: "Giử Mãi Mùa Xuân" (composed by Dr. Mai Mỹ Duyên, Lien Nam tune), performed by Meritorious Artists Phuong Hậu and Bảo Ngọc, like a gentle melody for the cultural spring that never fades; "Thanh phố 50 năm đổi mới" (composed by Tu Hải, short ancient tune), performed by Như Phượng - Thanh Vàng, is a slice of memory of a city that is constantly rising, bringing Cai Luong as a part of the city's soul and "Khuc hát tri an" (composed by Pham Thái Bình , Duyên kỳ ngo qua ngưa ô bắc tune), gathering many young singers of the Club such as Tâm Phúc Linh, Ngọc Thảo, bé Cẩm Yến, Xuân Hiếu, Nguyễn Thúy, Văn Của... is a chorus rich in emotions about the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, about the role of inheriting traditions of the new generation.

The "Companion" event is also an opportunity to look back on the program's 20-year journey of tireless development. That is the journey in which hundreds of contestants from all over the country have been supported and trained, and then stepped onto the big stage with the title of artist such as: People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Doi, Meritorious Artist Vo Thanh Phe, Artist Minh Truong, Le Van Gan, Bui Trung Dang, Nhu Y, Vo Ngoc Quyen, Nguyen Van Meo...
