Việt NamViệt Nam01/05/2025

(HTV) - A delegation of international reporters, overseas Vietnamese and war correspondents visited Cu Chi Tunnels and Ben Duoc Memorial Temple within the framework of the Press Week celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

Within the framework of the Press Week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), yesterday morning, a group of war correspondents, international correspondents and overseas Vietnamese journalists visited the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site and Ben Duoc Memorial Temple. This is an opportunity for journalists - those who have made their mark in historical events - to look back on the past, and at the same time feel more clearly the development and change of Vietnam after half a century of peace .

A group of war correspondents, international reporters and overseas Vietnamese journalists visited the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site and Ben Duoc Memorial Temple.

The delegation included many international reporters who had been associated with Vietnam during both wartime and peacetime. Returning to the S-shaped strip of land for the second time, reporter Joseph Silva – currently working for the Independence newspaper (California, USA) – could not hide his excitement when he first discovered the famous tunnel system. Having heard about Cu Chi many times through international newspapers and documents, he said that this is a symbolic work, not only in terms of military but also demonstrating the will, courage and creativity of the Vietnamese people during the resistance war.

Equally impressive, journalist Geetanjali Chanda from India was moved to share her feelings after returning to Vietnam many times since 1975. She said she was truly amazed by the comprehensive development of Ho Chi Minh City, especially the changes in urban appearance, infrastructure and culture. This trip was even more meaningful when she and her group visited iconic historical sites such as Ben Duoc Memorial Temple and Cu Chi Tunnels - places that mark the great sacrifices of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence and freedom.

Meanwhile, French reporter Axel Nodinot expressed his appreciation for the way Vietnamese people preserve and pass on history to the younger generation. According to him, the most special thing after the trip was the clear feeling of love for the homeland, national pride and solidarity that Vietnam has always nurtured through generations. This is the solid foundation for the country to continue to develop sustainably and affirm its position in the international arena.

The tour is an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and international friends.

The tour not only pays tribute to those who died for national independence, but also serves as an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and international friends. At the same time, it is also a reminder of the special role of the press – the “soldiers on the information front” – in spreading the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world.

This is an opportunity for journalists to look back at the past and feel more clearly the development and changes of Vietnam after half a century of peace.

On the morning of April 30, the delegation of reporters continued to attend the State-level parade and march - an important event marking the 50th anniversary of national reunification, recognizing the historical milestones and proud achievements that Vietnam has achieved on the journey of development and integration.
