Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi: 'Ho Chi Minh City National University must be the nucleus of development'

Working Group No. 1 of the Steering Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress had a working session with the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Party Committee on the preparation and organization of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Congress Steering Committee, Head of Working Group No. 1, chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, Dr. Le Thi Anh Tram, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department of Ho Chi Minh City National University, reported on the preparations for the congress and presented the goals of building the Ho Chi Minh City National University Party Committee in the coming time. In particular, by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City National University aims to be in the top 100 universities in Asia, with a vision to be in the top 100 universities in the world by 2045. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City National University plays a core role in creating a new development space and new growth drivers for Ho Chi Minh City, making an important contribution to the process of realizing the goal of making Vietnam a developed country with high income by 2045.

Concluding the working session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the proactive and responsible spirit of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Party Committee in preparing for the congress. He emphasized that the content of the congress documents must closely follow the functions, tasks and practical characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City National University; ensure generality, brevity, conciseness, high actionability, and at the same time fully reflect the content according to the requirements of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee noted that reports submitted to the congress should assess the implementation of policies of the Central Government and Ho Chi Minh City, especially policies on university education development, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. In particular, special attention should be paid to updating and closely following new directions of the Central Government, the Politburo and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi also suggested many important contents for the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City National University to supplement and complete the congress documents. Regarding the tasks and solutions, the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City National University must ensure feasibility and action in accordance with the development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City National University and the development policies of the Central Government on international integration, innovation and development of education , science and technology in the context of merger.

Considering Ho Chi Minh City National University as a place to train high-quality human resources not only for Ho Chi Minh City but also for the whole country, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized: "In the next term, Ho Chi Minh City National University must be the core, together with Ho Chi Minh City to deploy and effectively implement major resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo. Ho Chi Minh City National University must be the core of development, contributing to the growth and development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the country in general."

At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, acknowledged the contributions of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi and the working group related to the preparation for the congress. TPP.HCM National University will continue to review and complete the preparations for the Ho Chi Minh City National University Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, scheduled to take place on August 21-22.
