On the afternoon of August 1, Mr. Luong Van Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huoi Mot Commune, confirmed that due to the large flood on Nam Cong stream pouring in from Sop Cop commune ( Son La province), the bridge in Ta Hoc village (leading to Nam Cong 3 hydropower plant) was washed away. The flood also forced 10 households living along the stream to evacuate urgently.

Nam Cong 3 Hydropower Plant invested by LILAMA 10 Joint Stock Company, started construction in 2007 and completed in 2010. The plant has an installed capacity of 2x4 MW, generating about 35.4 million kWh/year, and was officially connected to the national grid on December 22, 2010.
At 2:00 p.m. the same day, the Civil Defense Command of Son La province continued to update the damage caused by the flood, noting that two other suspension bridges in Muong Lam and Chieng So communes were also swept away by floodwaters. Many areas in Huoi Mot commune are in the flood zone, heavily affected by the heavy rains that have lasted for the past few days.
