Following Steam, Epic Games Store is about to stop supporting old Windows versions

According to TechNewsSpace , the latest announcement from Epic Games Store says that the service will stop supporting older operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 32-bit starting in June 2024.

This means that the Epic Games Launcher (EGS) app on these operating systems will no longer receive new updates. However, users can still use EGS to play games after the above deadline, but Epic Games notes that people will no longer be officially supported by the company.

The gaming company also warns that it may stop providing technical support for users using these operating systems, so EGS functionality on older systems may degrade or stop working over time.

Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 32-bit are about to be discontinued by Epic

The Epic Games Store's decision to end support for older operating systems follows a similar decision by Valve for Steam. On January 1, 2024, Steam dropped support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, leaving users on those operating systems unable to launch the Steam app and access their game libraries.

This is an inevitable trend in the gaming industry as developers focus on supporting newer operating systems to ensure performance and security for users. Therefore, Windows 7, 8, and Windows 10 32-bit users should consider upgrading to newer operating systems to continue using EGS and other gaming services smoothly and securely.

Alternatively, users can also consider alternative solutions such as using a web browser to access the Epic Games Store or installing an older version of EGS. However, these solutions may not be fully supported and may have some functionality limitations.
