Joy spreads positive, good things

(PLVN) - If I could choose a career again, I would still choose journalism, the place that has trained me to become more resilient and mature, bringing the breath of life to readers, spreading positive and good things.

The 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) is also the 4th anniversary since I officially became a reporter for PLVN Newspaper, a hard, decent, and proud profession. Four years is not too long, but it is enough for me to feel the joys and sorrows of the profession and from there I have been trained, resilient, and improved every day.

Before becoming a journalist, I had worked many jobs, right from when I was still in school, from working part-time to earn money to pay for tuition, doing business, volunteering, being a contributor to some specialized pages or internal newsletters... Passionate about journalism because it can do good things for life, after a period of collaboration, I was accepted to work at the Southeast Regional Office (now the Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City) of PLVN Newspaper. The day I held the decision to assign work in my hand, I felt that my life was taking a big turn, where my dream of becoming a professional journalist had become a reality.

In the early days of work, I still could not avoid feeling bewildered. Although I had accumulated some experience, when becoming a part of a large newsroom, there were many new things to learn. From courses on journalistic skills and ethics, the Press Law, the agency's regulations; to field trips to write news articles... There were sleepless nights at the keyboard, when the city had fallen asleep, only the lights on the desks were quietly shining like candles burning out.

In the past, I used to think that journalism meant going to many places, meeting many people, writing about great things and being honored by everyone. But when I actually pursued a career in journalism, I realized that journalism is not only about glory but also about hardships and harsh challenges. Behind each news article is the effort of an entire team, from reporters, editors, content controllers, support staff, and content reviewers. Reporters and journalists sometimes have to face danger to bring back current news to serve readers.

Journalism is a special profession, more difficult than many other professions. Reporters and journalists not only need to have a good knowledge base, flexible and harmonious behavior, but also have to constantly face pressure from many sides from the editorial office, readers, from their own professional conscience, from relatives...

I love journalism because it gives me the opportunity to travel to many places, hear many stories and write true stories about life, carrying out the mission of eliminating evils in society, defending the right and the weak. Each trip, each story reflects to readers, and at the same time is a profound lesson about life, enriching my life experience and personal outlook on life.

I love journalism because it taught me to sacrifice and appreciate the values of life. I am grateful to my predecessors who did not hesitate to teach me from the smallest lessons, carefully writing each sentence so that the articles are accurate, humane, complete, reasonable, and logical. At the Vietnam Law House, there are many reporters and journalists like that, who have "fueled" and contributed to fanning the flame of the profession in their juniors, adding more determination for each reporter and journalist in particular, and the editorial office in general, to overcome difficulties and challenges.

Now, if I could choose again, I would still choose journalism. Because journalism has allowed me to live with my passion, to travel, to write, to share, to listen, to have the opportunity to spread positive and good things. Journalism has helped me to become a stronger, more humane and more compassionate person. I understand that journalism is not just about reporting news, but also about social responsibility, a bridge connecting lives, contributing to shedding light on truth and justice.
