major press center
Journalist and researcher Duong Phuoc Thu, former Permanent Vice President of the Hue City Journalists Association , is proud: more than 100 years ago, Hue was a major press center associated with names such as Huynh Thuc Khang, Dam Phuong, Dao Duy Anh, Hai Trieu, Nguyen Chi Dieu, Nguyen Chi Thanh...
In particular, since April 3, 1930, the Thua Thien Provincial Party Committee (now Hue City) was officially established. Only two months later, in the capital Hue, a number of revolutionary newspapers appeared such as: Con Duong Dau Tranh, Hoc t tro, Nguoi Lao Kho.

“Recently, I accessed and scanned the special issue of Viet Thuong, published on November 4, 1930, currently kept at the Central Party Office Archives. This is a handwritten newspaper of the Thua Thien Provincial Party Committee, secretly published as a revolutionary propaganda document,” journalist Duong Phuoc Thu shared.

At the seminar with the theme "Hue press accompanies the development of the homeland and the country" organized by the Hue City Journalists Association in coordination with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee, and the Department of Culture and Information of Hue City, comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem, former member of the Politburo , former Secretary of the Central Party Committee, former Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Committee, said that, in the common pride, journalists in Hue have their own pride in a city that used to be one of the press centers of the whole country.
During those 100 years, Hue newspapers have always accompanied political, economic and cultural events not only of the locality but also of national significance. Through the newspapers, people clearly see that Hue is joining the whole country in a common cause.
New opportunities and challenges
At Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City, there is a special exhibition "Hue Press in the Flow of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press" with over 200 artifacts, documents, and images related to the history of the birth of patriotic press and revolutionary press in Hue.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nam, Chairwoman of Hue City Journalists Association, Director of Hue Radio and Television Station, said that the exhibition was organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, including 3 parts: Journalist Ho Chi Minh - Founder and trainer of Vietnam revolutionary press; Hue press in the flow of Vietnam revolutionary press; Hue press after 1975.
The exhibition helps the public identify press publications, historical revolutionary events, Vietnamese grammar and structure of each period...
At the same time, it contributes to affirming the contributions of patriotic and revolutionary press in Hue; helping the young generation understand more about the development process and role of Vietnamese revolutionary press in general, patriotic and revolutionary press in Hue in particular...

Exactly one century, since the first issue of Thanh Nien newspaper , founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc - President Ho Chi Minh, published on June 21, 1925 abroad, the history of the national press has gone through many ups and downs and become an important part of the revolutionary cause, a sharp weapon in the struggle for national independence and national unification.
According to comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem, those working in the field of journalism are facing new opportunities and challenges, new pressures and developing journalism is always a mandatory order of life.
Developing and protecting the press is posing many urgent demands. The people are looking forward to a rich and healthy press, equal to the great cause of the country and contributing to the vanguard in that cause.

Comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem believes that a journalist who wants to maintain his reputation and contribute to society needs to have a strong rational mind; wholeheartedly aim for objective truth, determined to fight for the truth, and not back down in the face of any pressure.
