At Hanh Phuc Kindergarten (Ward 9, Ca Mau City), since the beginning of June, summer classes have started operating, with a scale of 5 classes, each class has 15-20 children. Unlike the regular curriculum, summer classes are a time for children to play, experience and develop soft skills in a safe and friendly environment.

Ms. Nguyen Mai Huong, Vice Principal of Hanh Phuc Kindergarten, said: “Summer classes usually last from June to August, the school focuses on caring for and organizing experiential activities for children. Children will participate in many interesting games right on campus such as: playing basket boats, catching fish, making pottery, planting trees... Children often like to play and explore , so the school has arranged activities suitable for each age. The goal is to create a positive mentality, helping children to be excited to go to class, have friends to play with, instead of just hanging around at home".

Not only focusing on experiences, the school also pays special attention to health and nutrition during the summer. The daily menu is scientifically designed, prioritizing the use of homegrown vegetables and seasonal fruits. In addition, children can soak their feet in rose and eucalyptus essential oil to help prevent colds and increase resistance during hot summer days.

To prevent common summer diseases such as chicken pox and hand, foot and mouth disease, schools regularly clean and disinfect. Children who show signs of being unwell will be asked to stay home to ensure the safety of the whole class. Teachers regularly clean and disinfect classrooms and toys to limit the risk of spreading disease.

Before implementing the summer program, Hanh Phuc Kindergarten conducted a survey of parents' opinions. The results showed that most families wanted a safe and flexible place to send their children during the summer break, especially when parents still have to work all day.

“Having summer classes helps parents feel more secure when they go to work. Not only are children well taken care of, but they also have friends and teachers to play and study with. This creates a balance between work and family life, reducing the burden on grandparents or relatives,” Ms. Huong added.

Not only does it create conditions for teachers to increase their income, summer childcare somewhat reduces the pressure on parents because they do not have to "run around" to find a place to send their children.
